3. Newsletter
If you subscribe to the "Letters from the Carpathians" newsletter, your email address is processed for sending the newsletter (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR – consent, double opt-in). Consent can be withdrawn at any time via the unsubscribe link. Sending and management are handled by Brevo (Sendinblue GmbH, Cologne; servers in the EU). Your email address as well as the timestamp and IP address at signup are stored as proof of consent. A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with Brevo.
4. Hosting
This website is hosted by STRATO AG, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany (servers in Germany). A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with STRATO. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in secure and stable operation (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
5. Server log files
When the website is accessed, the host automatically collects access data (including shortened IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type) that is technically necessary for delivery and security. This data is not merged with other sources and is deleted after a short period (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
6. Cookies & external services
This website uses GoatCounter (goatcounter.com) for anonymous, cookieless visitor statistics – no cookies, no permanently stored personal data, only aggregate page-view data (page visited, approximate referrer, country, browser type) with no cross-site tracking (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Beyond that, this website sets no cookies of its own and embeds no other external tracking services. Only when you submit the newsletter form are you redirected to Brevo; Brevo's privacy notice applies there.

You have the right to information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
